Bunny lines refer to the diagonal wrinkles or lines that form around the nose bridge. Like many expression lines, they can occur naturally if someone wrinkles their nose regularly when laughing or during the aging process.
To test if you have bunny lines, you can try to smile or scrunch up / crinkle your nose, similar to what a bunny or rabbit does (hence the name, bunny lines).
For the treatment of dynamic wrinkles, or those caused by repetitive facial movements, Cosmetic Botox is the first choice for crow's feet, forehead lines and wrinkles. Botox is the most effective way to smooth the skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
Botox injections act as inhibitors that block the regular muscle movements that cause facial expressions. Because many facial wrinkles, including bunny lines, are caused by constantly contracting muscles, blocking this signal can minimize the appearance of these wrinkles. In this case, the overactive nasalis muscle is targeted.
Just like when Botox injections are used elsewhere, they help to relax the muscles responsible for bunny wrinkles and help you look smoother and younger. This treatment involves using a small amount of Botox on each side of the nose to smooth out the bunny's wrinkles.
From bunny lines to other types of wrinkles like frown lines and crow's feet, botox wrinkle injections can help reduce the appearance of different types of wrinkles and fine lines as well as prevent them from forming or worsening. Wrinkle injections can reduce movement in the area, allowing the skin to gradually regain its natural appearance, smoothing out any lines or wrinkles that have formed.
Botox is injected into both sides of the nose using extremely tiny needles. Usually only 2 injection points are needed, and it feels like small ant bites.
Before injection, Dr. Edwin will discuss with you the dosage and points of injection for the best results.
The injection area will be "iced" to reduce discomfort as well as bruising.
You are still able to continue your normal activities of daily living after the treatment.
Usually, this treatment takes about 5 minutes and there is little to no downtime. Rarely, there may be bruising or swelling which would typically disappear in a few days.
How much Botox is required for Bunny Line botox?
Depending on the severity of bunny lines, Dr Edwin may recommend between 2 to 6 units of botox on each side of the nose, i.e a total of 4 to 12 units of botox.
How long does Bunny Line Botox results last for?
Results take between 3 to 10 days to appear and will usually last for around 4 to 6 months depending on the dosage of botox injected.
What are the side effects of Bunny Line Botox?
Post treatment, some patients may sometimes experience slight bruising or swelling. These are mild and will subside after several days.
Rest assured, botox does not damage the nose or affect one's ability to breathe.
